Tips on How to Earn More as an Agency Driver

  1. Our business is based on punctuality and service by which we will be judged by the client. Likewise both the client and ourselves will judge you on your punctuality and service. You can create your own market by good service with clients asking for you by name.
  2. If you want to be treated as a professional act like and dress like a professional. You only have one opportunity to make a first impression so do’nt waste it.
  3. If you want a career as a professional agency driver then consider becoming a Small Ltd Company or part of a composite company. You will be able to command a higher rate of pay and offset your costs before tax and not after tax as PAYE drivers have to. We can assist you with this.
  4. Ensure your licence is up to date and that we have copies of all of your relevant certificates.
  5. Make sure that your mode of transport is reliable it is not an acceptable excuse to blame your vehicle for failing to attend work.
  6. Always be punctual and clean when you arrive to start a days work, create the right impression at all times.
  7. If you do not understand any instruction or equipment ask the client so that you have a complete understanding of the task in hand.
  8. Always keep your mobile close to hand and answer it as soon as possible, if driving and you do not have a hands free wait until you have stopped and switched your engine off.
  9. Keep us updated on your availability, when you tell us you are available we endeavour to get you work. So when we find a job and the availability is changed we are seen by the client to have let them down. Say what you mean and mean what you say. Every time you don’t honour what you say you lose credibility.
  10. Be flexible on start times.
  11. Be prepared to try something else, you might be missing a job that you enjoy more.
  12. Take the opportunity to become trained at specific sites to increase your ability to spread your opportunity for future bookings.
  13. Ensure that you get your timesheets to head office for Monday each week, we can then ensure that your money will arrive with you on time.
  14. Every time you introduce a driver to us who works for a minimum of 10 driving days we will make a £50 payment to you.
  15. Keep us informed on information at clients sites, the most information we receive on any of our clients comes from you.
  16. Always be courteous to clients and do not upset them, make their life easy and they will ask for you again.
  17. Treat clients property as your own.
  18. Return all tachographs on time to ourselves, it is a legal document and as such should be treated as a priority.
  19. If you know of any clients that we have not yet approached let us know who they are and we will approach them.
  20. If you know of any competitor encroaching on our clients let us know.
